Veterans’ Expo

Chester County Flu Vaccine Clinics
Are you ready to fight flu this season? The Chester County Health Department is holding flu vaccine clinics open to the public throughout Chester County during the month of October. These clinics are open to everyone over 6 months old and will provide no-cost vaccines to those without insurance. There will be a flu clinic in South Coventry Township at the Owen J Roberts Middle School on October 21, 2019 from 3:00PM-6:00PM.

PennDOT Seeks Public Input on Highway Safety
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking motorists’ input on traffic safety and driving behaviors through its annual online Highway Safety Survey found at www.PennDOT.gov/Safety. PennDOT will use the feedback from this annual survey to better understand the attitude and actions of the public concerning a variety of driving behaviors
The survey is available on PennDOT’s website through August 12 and should take about five minutes to complete. All responses, including the “comments” fields, are anonymous.
Heat Advisory in Effect
The National Weather has issued a Heat Advisory for Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Excessive heat is forecast to continue through Sunday, July 21.
The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Extreme heat can pose a challenge to the body’s temperature control system. If the body does not cool properly, there is potential for heat-related illness. Heat-related illness can take different forms, ranging from general fatigue to muscular cramping to life-threatening heat stroke. Those especially at risk during extremely hot weather are very young children, the elderly, people with chronic medical conditions, and those taking certain medications.

The Chester County Agricultural Development Council has released the 2019 Guide to Local Farm Products in Chester County. The Guide provides a map and listing of farms, CSAs, retail outlets and farmer’s markets in Chester County as well as a farm product calendar and a variety of interesting articles.

2019 Chester County Town Tours and Village Walks
Chester County has announced the schedule for the 2019 Town Tours and Village Walks. Town Tours and Village Walks is a series of free summer strolls through historic neighborhoods, hamlets, villages and sites. Tours will be held weekly on Thursday evenings from June 13 through August 29 throughout the county. Each tour is designed to inform, entertain and increase awareness of Chester County’s rich heritage and historic landscape.

2019 Local HHW Collection Event
The 2019 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event in South Coventry Township will be held this Saturday, May 18, at the Owen J. Roberts Middle High School Campus, 881 Ridge Road, Pottstown, PA 19465. The collection site will open at 9:00AM and will close at 3:00PM sharp. NO electronics or appliances will be accepted. PennDOT Winter Services Feedback Survey
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is accepting winter services feedback through an online survey. The public can take the survey through May 7 at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PennDOTWinter.
The 10-question survey asks how often respondents travel during poor weather, how they rate PennDOT’s winter service, and how they rank snow-removal priorities. Respondents are also asked how they receive PennDOT roadway information, and whether or how they use the state’s 511PA traveler information services. During the winter, www.511PA.com offers its standard traffic and incident information while adding PennDOT plow-truck locations, winter roadway conditions, and other services.
