RIDGLEA WATER SYSTEM NOTICE – 2/6/2026

South Coventry Township has received reports of brown or discolored water from residents served by the Ridglea Water System. This discoloration is the result of a fire emergency today during which the Ridge Fire Company utilized water from system hydrants. The high water flows associated with firefighting activities can stir up naturally occurring sediment within the water mains, leading to temporary discoloration at customer taps. In addition, recent weather-related conditions have prevented the Township from maintaining its normal hydrant flushing schedule, which has compounded this issue.

The water discoloration is not uncommon following these events and is caused by sediment disturbance, not a loss of water treatment or safety. The sediment will gradually settle, but it may take some time for the system to fully recover. Residents experiencing discoloration are advised to run their cold water tap for a short period until the water clears. If discoloration persists, please contact the Township.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as the system stabilizes.
